Morning Rant.

first off, i dont normally get too political on this blog but as of right now, i can not keep my mouth shut.

a friend sent this over to me this morning.
http://www.vox.com/2014/8/18/6031197/obama-ferguson-race-speech

Wow.
My fiance & I have been discussing and reading all the issues around this ad nauseam . . . .

. . . and we are both very disappointed that Obama hasn’t said more, I still defend him, he is damned if does and damned if he doesn’t but I feel he is nothing more than a political puppet that others control.

We spend more time trying to save the world than we do our own people! UGH

I CAN ONLY HOPE – when his term is up he will actually be a real leader.  What happens when Al Sharpton and Jesse James pass on? Who is that voice and that presence that fights and stands for the people.  Obama? Who knows, but it is a sad, sad day at present.

I saw this – this morning and it resonated. . .
in hopes that 90 – NINETY – Years later we still don’t have to march, my god.

Ok – good morning. Rant over. For now anyway.

Congratulations President Obama ! !

"America, I believe we can build on the progress we've made and continue to fight for new jobs and new opportunity and new security for the middle class. I believe we can keep the promise of our founders, the idea that if you're willing to work hard, it doesn't matter who you are or where you come from or what you look like or where you love. It doesn't matter whether you're black or white or Hispanic or Asian or Native American or young or old or rich or poor, able, disabled, gay or straight, you can make it here in America if you're willing to try."

And when we all play nice, everyone wins! Imagine that.

"Victory for the American people! Millions of American families and children will have certainty of health care benefits and affordable care." -Nancy Pelosi

The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the individual insurance requirement at the heart of President Barack Obama's health care overhaul.

The decision means the historic overhaul will continue to go into effect over the next several years, affecting the way that countless Americans receive and pay for their personal medical care. The ruling also handed Obama a campaign-season victory in rejecting arguments that Congress went too far in requiring most Americans to have health insurance or pay a penalty.

Chief Justice John Roberts announced the court's judgment that allows the law to go forward with its aim of covering more than 30 million uninsured Americans.

"Same-sex couples should be able to get married." - Barack Obama

I don't normally use this forum to push anything political however, yesterday I stood so proud behind my President.  I have to share this here.

I've always believed that gay and lesbian Americans should be treated fairly and equally. I was reluctant to use the term marriage because of the very powerful traditions it evokes. And I thought civil union laws that conferred legal rights upon gay and lesbian couples were a solution.

But over the course of several years I've talked to friends and family about this. I've thought about members of my staff in long-term, committed, same-sex relationships who are raising kids together. Through our efforts to end the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, I've gotten to know some of the gay and lesbian troops who are serving our country with honor and distinction.

What I've come to realize is that for loving, same-sex couples, the denial of marriage equality means that, in their eyes and the eyes of their children, they are still considered less than full citizens.

Even at my own dinner table, when I look at Sasha and Malia, who have friends whose parents are same-sex couples, I know it wouldn't dawn on them that their friends' parents should be treated differently.

So I decided it was time to affirm my personal belief that same-sex couples should be allowed to marry.

I respect the beliefs of others, and the right of religious institutions to act in accordance with their own doctrines. But I believe that in the eyes of the law, all Americans should be treated equally. And where states enact same-sex marriage, no federal act should invalidate them.

If you agree, you can stand up with me here.

Healthcare Reform

Get behind it!

Mama believes the only way to truly make changes is to include community. We have to take care of each other or we all will eventually feel the pain (as we are seeing now).

Thank you President Obama for seeing it this way as well.

Least he's not wearing cowboy boots like the last one. . .

Obama defends his "mom jeans" to Meredith Vieira. . .

"No. Here’s my attitude. Michelle — she looks fabulous. I’m a little frumpy. Basically, up until a few years ago, I only had four suits. She used to tease me ‘cause they’d get really shiny. I hate to shop. Those jeans are comfortable, and for those of you who want your president to look great in his tight jeans, I’m sorry — I’m not the guy."
